Project NAMO

Seamless Barrier-free Information and Mobility Chain for Elder People

Description of Work

The aim of the project is to support the active and independent mobility of elder people in public environments - and, by this, the participation in society. This aim is to be achieved by the provision of innovative information services in combination with existing services and modern information and communication technologies. A "Mobile Travel Assistant" is developed that supports the user in the planning of a journey and later during the actual travel.

Focus is on senior-friendly presentation of information on accessible traveling chains from door to door. In order to support "seamless mobility", the informations services comprise both, public transport as well as private transport. Special focus is on potential barriers and problematic areas, like orientation in complex situations, foot paths and personal safety.

A more detailed project description (in German) is provided on the NAMO web site.
