Project RAIL
Robotic Aid to Independent Living
Short description
The picture shows the prototype of RAIL-Systems
The aim of the project is to test, to improve and to further develop the robot-based eating aid HANDY 1 with respect to the steering electronics and software. Furthermore, internal sensors are inserted to guarantee precise moving behaviour of the robot arm. Additionally to the use as an eating and drinking aid, the further possible applications of the robot are investigated by a user-needs analysis and new developments of end-effectors, e.g. aids for washing, shaving or teeth cleaning.
