Project DELFI plus

Enhancement of DELFI taking into account travellers with reduced mobility

Logo DELFIplus

The electronic travel information system DELFI provides travel connections in public transport all over Germany. It is based on the travel information systems of the 16 German federal states and of Deutsche Bahn AG, which cooperate via a decentralized network, and provides Germany wide travel connections. The DELFI system has been operational for more than 10 years.

Description of Work

The project DELFIplus aims at enhancing and improving the DELFI system with respect to future requirements. This includes strategic and organizational as well as functional aspects up to the concrete realization. Special emphasis is on barrier-free traveling. Building upon results of previous research projects (BAIM, BAIMplus), information and data formats concerning accessibility and support for people with reduced mobility are standardized. Developments take the European context into account and make reference to the activities of EU-SPIRIT (European travel information network) hergestellt. A prototype of a corresponding enhanced DELFI information service is developed with the final goal to elaborate a standard for information systems for barrier-free traveling with public transport in Germany which is the precondition for a nation wide accessible travel information service.
